West Virginia adds two recruits on signing day
West Virginia added a pair of three-star recruits to its Class of 2020 on National Signing Day on Wednesday.
The Mountaineers got letters of intent from running back A’Varius Sparrow (5-9, 190) and linebacker/end Eddie Watkins (6-4, 220).
Sparrow was a Class 5A all-state honoree at Jones High School in Orlando. A long-time wrestler, he played football for just two seasons. He ran for 3,200 yards between his junior and senior seasons and scored 26 times last fall in helping Jones reach the state championship game. He is rated as the No. 73 running back nationally.
Watkins was an outside linebacker and defensive end at Hillcrest-Evergreen High School in Alabama. A Class 4A first-team all-state selection, he had 66 tackles and 10 sacks last fall. He is the No. 57-ranked defensive end in the nation.
The Mountaineers now have 21 members in the Class 2020.
