West Virginia quarterback Nicco Marchiol (8) warms up before the Frisco Bowl NCAA college football game against Memphis Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, in Frisco, Texas.

The West Virginia athletic department announced opponents for several nonconference home matchups in the 2026, 2027, 2028, 2030 and 2031 seasons Tuesday.

UT-Martin will face the Mountaineers for the first time Sept. 12, 2026. WVU added the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) to the 2027 (Sept. 11) and 2031 (Aug. 30) schedules. WVU has defeated VMI all 11 times in they have met. They last met in 1972.

Youngstown State will battle the Mountaineers for the third time Sept. 9, 2028. West Virginia won the first two times they played. Akron will travel to Morgantown for its initial game against West Virginia on Sept. 16, 2028. They will rematch on Sept. 14, 2030.

Because St. Francis decided to move to NCAA Division III, it made room for Rhode Island to replace the Red Flash. Rams will head to Milan Puskar Stadium for an Aug. 31, 2030 game to mark the first meeting between teams.

Also, fans looking to attend the Backyard Brawl against Pitt on Sep. 13 can purchase season ticket packages to the general public on the WVU sports website, while there are open seats. Single-game tickets are unavailable for the brawl.

Fans can buy season tickets for West Virginia’s six home games online at WVUGAME.com.
