When she played at Ligonier Valley, Rachel Caldwell was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and earned two letters playing softball.

If there was a spot for hidden talents in her yearbook, she could have listed lacrosse.

Caldwell, a junior at Waynesburg, registered a career-high six goals in a 22-14 loss to Muskingum.

Caldwell is third on the team now with 10 points. She also has four assists.

Junior teammate Eve O’Sullivan (Latrobe) also has local ties, but she had a lacrosse team to play for in high school. It shows, too: O’Sullivan leads the Yellow Jackets (0-3) in scoring with 12 goals and 27 shots.

She also had six goals in the loss to Muskingum.

Women’s lacrosse

Gannon: Sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Delisio (Franklin Regional) made 10 saves over 40 minutes in a 17-6 win over Edinboro.

Seton Hill: Redshirt freshman Skylar Orlowski had six goals, grad student Jaclyn Frank added four scores and four assists and freshman Megan Bunker scored three times as the Griffins topped Gannon, 15-10, to move to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC.

Bunker was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Men’s lacrosse

Allegheny: Junior goalie Dave Kratzenburg (Greensburg Central Catholic) made a career-high 15 saves for the Gators in a 15-4 loss to Kenyon in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener.

Saint Vincent: Junior Jordan Billett put four goals in the net and assisted on another score, and junior Caleb Hawkins scored three times, as SVC (5-0) defeated Marietta,10-6.

Senior Noah Sperling made 11 saves in the win.

Seton Hill: Grad attacker McGarity Harper had six goals, sophomore Vincent Cogliandro had a hat trick and junior Layne Harich had two goals and five assists to propel the Griffins (5-4) past Davis & Elkins, 22-5.

Women’s basketball

Grove City: Senior forward Allison Podkul (Hempfield) was named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III All-Star Second Team.

Podkul averaged 11.5 points and 8.7 rebounds and shot 49% from the field for the Wolverines (17-9). The four-year letterwinner and three-year starter also contributed 2.5 steals and 2.4 assists.

She was the only senior in this year’s team. Grove City was 68-26 with her in the lineup.

Men’s volleyball

Penn State: Junior John Kerr (Derry) has played a part in the No. 2-ranked Nittany Lions’ 15-match winning streak. The 6-foot-6 Kerr has played 42 sets and has four kills.

Sophomore Will Kuhns (Hempfield) has appeared in five sets.

Thiel: Freshman JC Govannucci (Norwin) put down seven kills as the Tomcats defeated Saint Vincent, 3-1.

Men’s track and field

Allegheny: Sophomore Jake Boord (Hempfield) threw the javelin 59.81 meters at the Weems-Baskin Invitational in South Carolina for a third-place finish and the fourth-best mark this season in NCAA Division III.

Boord, a reigning conference champion in the javelin, was named the NCAC Athlete of the Week.

Duquesne: Junior Matt Busche (Franklin Regional) won the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute, 54.23 seconds at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

Grove City: Sophomore Gabe Dunlap (Penn-Trafford) took second place in the long jump (20 feet, 3 inches) at the Bethany Invitational.

Thiel: Freshman Keith Rager (Derry) recorded a 10th-place finish in the javelin at the Bethany Invitational with a throw of 35.33 meters.

Women’s track and field

Arizona: Sophomore Mackenna Orie (Hempfield) won the shot put at the Arizona State Invitational. Her mark of 53 feet, 6.25 inches is a personal best.

Clarion: Junior Jenna Uncapher (Hempfield) finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 4.97 meters, a personal best, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

Saint Vincent: Senior Sydney Green (Latrobe) finished third in the 800 with a personal-best and school-record time of 2 minutes, 21.88 seconds at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Green earned PAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.

Virginia: Cavaliers alum Bridget (Guy) Williams (Hempfield) won the pole vault title at the Texas Relays, clearing 15 feet, 5 inches. Williams was competing unattached.

The mark currently ranks No. 1 in the world.

She competed in the 2021 Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Women’s water polo

Washington & Jefferson: Senior Kimber Randolph (Hempfield) had a goal, but the Presidents fell to No. 2 Cal Lutheran, 21-5.

Men’s tennis

Pitt-Greensburg: The doubles team of junior Turner Price (Penn-Trafford) and freshman Deven Summers (Norwin), and junior Francisco Garcia and freshman Kyle Glessner won matches to pace UPG (3-5) to a 6-3 win over Mt. Aloysius in AMCC play.

Saint Vincent: Senior Mauricio Sanchez was named the PAC Player of the Week, and freshman teammate Jack Citrone earned conference rookie of the week honors.

Women’s golf

Washington & Jefferson: Freshman Angelika Dewicki (Greensburg Central Catholic) carded an 11th-place finish at the Cardinal Classic in Hagerstown, Md. She shot an 84.

Women’s tennis

Cincinnati: Redshirt junior Maria Santilli (Norwin) has a 3-1 record for the Bearcats, including a 2-1 mark at No. 3 singles.

She was 6-7 playing in the No. 3 spot last season.

Pitt-Greensburg: The Bobcats (12-3) became the first team in school history to defeat a NCAA Division II opponent when they held off Shippensburg, 4-3. Sophomores Emily Ruhlman and Abigail Rosman posted wins in singles and doubles.

Women’s bowling

Saint Vincent: The Bearcats reached the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and finished runner-up to Medaille, which bested SVC, 4-1, in a best-of-7 Baker series to win its fifth straight title.

Saint Vincent (33-10) earned the No. 1 seed in the double-elimination conference tournament.
