Norwin graduate Logan Deri finished his college career as one of only six players in West Liberty history to record 300 tackles.

West Liberty senior safety Logan Deri (Norwin) finished his college career as one of only six players in West Liberty history to record 300 tackles. Deri had nine stops in his final college game, a 34-26 loss to Charleston. He finished with 301 tackles.

“The milestone was great, but to me it’s just a testimony to the coaches and teammates who put me in position to make those plays,” Deri said. “It meant a lot to me to showcase my talents in the Black and Gold. I’ll always be thankful for the opportunity. I can’t believe it went so fast.”

IUP: Senior linebacker Nick Amendola (Norwin) had four tackles and a sack, and redshirt freshman defensive back Cam Suman (Penn-Trafford) added three stops in a 54-24 win over Shippensburg.

Saint Vincent: Mike Stasko rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries, and Lorenzo Cota threw three scoring passes as the Bearcats (3-7) ended the season with a 27-10 win over Bethany.

Stasko set single-season SVC marks for rushing yards (912) and touchdowns (10) and also total touchdowns (12).

St. Francis (Pa.): Redshirt sophomore defensive back Gio Vonne Sanders (Jeannette) had three tackles for the Red Flash (5-6) and added to his team lead with his fourth interception of the year in a 42-6 win over Wagner.

Men’s basketball

Carnegie Mellon: Former Greensburg Central Catholic standout guard Jesse Reed, who played at American, was added to the CMU staff as an assistant coach.

He previously was an assistant at Saint Vincent, where he attended graduate school.

Reed played professionally in Luxembourg.

Lehigh: Freshman guard Reed Fenton (Latrobe) scored a season-high 14 points in an 87-68 victory over Misericordia. He added four rebounds and four assists. Fenton is averaging 7.2 points and 21.6 minutes in five starts with the Mountain Hawks (3-2).

Women’s basketball

Grove City: Sophomore Allison Podkul (Hempfield) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and added three steals in an 84-51 victory over Mt. Aloysius.

Pitt-Greensburg: Junior Nadege Durand had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore Maddie Stitler (17), senior Colleen Murphy (13) and junior Cat Gollihugh (12) also scored in double figures as the Bobcats opened the season with a 71-42 victory over Thiel.

Saint Vincent: Junior guard Jenna Lafko scored a career-high 26 points for the Bearcats (2-0) in a 108-83 victory over Penn State Altoona. It was the first time SVC scored more than 100 points in a game since it put up 114 in 2014.

Lafko also had seven assists and five rebounds.

Westminster: Sophomore guard Magen Polczynski (Norwin) is averaging a team-best 12 points and 4.3 rebounds. She scored 20 points against Penn State New Kensington and added 19 when the Titans (4-0) defeated Kalamazoo.

Junior Ashley Russell (Belle Vernon) has played in all four games as a a reserve guard.

Men’s soccer

Cal (Pa.): Freshman midfielder Jake Nebinski (Norwin) was selected to the All-PSAC West Second Team. Nebinski led the Vulcans with four assists and started all 15 games.

Seton Hill: Sophomore midfielder Archie Lock was selected to the All-PSAC West First Team, and senior defender Lloyd Davies and junior forward Alex Dysen were second-team picks.

Lock had six goals to lead the Griffins.

Women’s soccer

Pitt-Johnstown: Junior forward Abby LaDuke (Latrobe) was named to the All-PSAC West Second Team, She led the Mountain Cats in goals (10) and points (22).

Seton Hill: Senior midfielder Katie Kimmich (Franklin Regional) was named to the All-PSAC West First Team, and teammate Italia Biondi (Penn-Trafford), a senior forward, made the second team.

Kimmich had six goals and five assists, and Biondi had a team-high eight goals and added four assists.

Slippery Rock: Sophomor defenders Katy Ericson (Norwin) and Emily Arnold (Norwin) have played in 21 and 17 games, respectively, for the Rock, which won its first PSAC title since 2012 with a 2-1 victory over Edinboro.

Ericson had one goal and one assist this season.

SRU (18-3), which set a program record for wins in a season, advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Men’s cross country

Duquesne: Freshman Matt O’Neill (Norwin) ran a personal-best time in the 10K NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Lehigh. His time was 33 minutes, 3.5 seconds.

Men’s swimming

Saint Vincent: Junior Zach Baum (Derry) was named PAC Swimmer of the Week after a big meet against Grove City. Baum won the 50-yard freestyle (21.13 seconds), the 100 freestyle (48.40) and the 100 butterfly (50.99), the last event breaking his SVC pool record. He also anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:28.09).

Women’s swimming

Saint Vincent: Freshman Lauren Connors was named the PAC Rookie of the Week. Connors set a home pool record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.88 in a meet against Grove City. She also won the 200 backstroke in 2:14.34 and helped the 200-yard medley relay to victory.

Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore Kimber Randolph (Hempfield) won the 200-yard backstroke as the Presidents defeated Pitt-Bradford, 63-22. Randolph finished in a time of 2:27.37.
