Jeannette grad Toby Cline had six tackles in the season opener for Edinboro.

Patrick Edwards is making his way up the college basketball coaching ladder.

The 2018 Norwin graduate was named director of basketball operations at Dayton, his alma mater.

“Basketball has always been a love of mine growing up,” Edwards said. “I realized I wanted to coach, specifically at the college level, when I first got a glimpse of it as a student manager. This position means a lot to me. It’s an opportunity to move closer to home and family, while also joining a staff of high character men who invested in me for four years.”

Edwards, who played basketball at Norwin, spent two years in a similar role at Jacksonville State, where he also was a grad assistant and earned his master’s in business administration. He was a student manager at Dayton for four years.

“He brings a strong work ethic, high energy and a familiarity with our culture and standards,” Dayton coach Anthony Grant said. “We are happy to welcome Pat back home into the Flyer community.”

Edwards was a key organizer of Intersport 3x3U Championship, which was played during the Final Four in New Orleans.

He was also a D3Hoops.Com All-Region, NABC All-District and All-PAC First Team selection.
