Interest is picking up for offensive lineman Dane Levi (Belle Vernon). Since he put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, Levi (6-foot-3, 295 pounds) has picked up Division II offers from Slippery Rock, Lake Erie, Bluefield State, West Chester, Saint Anselm, Gannon and Clarion.
Levi has three years of eligibility remaining after leaving Millersville.
• Another local product, North Huntingdon native Payton Wehner (Central Catholic), is leaving Saint Francis (Pa.), which is dropping from NCAA Division I to Division III.
Wehner, who moved from quarterback to wide receiver, will go into the transfer portal Jan. 2.

Cal (Pa.): Sophomore defensive lineman Aiden Johnson (Belle Vernon) announced a commitment to play at Cal after transferring out of Millersville.
Johnson (6-2, 255) also had offers from Division II schools Edinboro, Gannon, Ohio Dominican and Northwood.
At Millersville, Johnson played in seven games and had 10 tackles.
John Carroll: Sophomore defensive back Adam LaCarte (Belle Vernon) has played a key role on a championship-caliber defense. Through 11 games, he had 22 tackles, 16 solo, and four pass breakups.
No. 24 JCU (11-1) was set to play No. 17 Berry (11-1) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Saint Vincent: Junior wide receiver Chris Downs was named to the D3football.com All-Region 2 list and is now eligible for All-American consideration.
Downs led the PAC in receiving yards (1,205) and touchdowns (17) and set single-season program records in both categories. His 279 yards against Geneva are a school single-game mark.
He made 68 receptions in 10 games.
He is the fourth SVC player to make all-region, joining Molayo Irefin (2022), Ryan Crawford (2016) and Darius Brown (2014).

Men’s basketball
Harcum: Freshman guard Zion Moore (Belle Vernon), last year’s TribLive Westmoreland Player of the Year, was averaging 15.4 points and 18 minutes per game through seven games.
Pitt-Johnstown: Junior guard Adam Bilinsky (Norwin) scored 14 points and handed out six assists across 19 minutes as the Mountain Cats (6-3) defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 113-84.
Pitt-Greensburg: Senior Matthew Marinchak (Ligonier Valley) hit 6 of 10 shots from behind the 3-point line for 28 points, and senior Trent Rozich had 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Bobcats remained undefeated with a 91-61 victory over Alfred State.
UPG is 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the AMCC.
Saint Vincent: Senior Jaden Gales led five Bearcats in double figures with 17 points — and 10 rebounds — in a 93-75 victory at Bethany as SVC improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.
Senior Dev Ostrowski had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, grad student Jevontae Jones scored 13, sophomore Terek Crosby (Yough) 12 and grad student Mike Iuzzolino returned to the lineup and chipped in 10.
Junior Maxwell Gordon had a game-high eight assists for SVC, which hit 11 3-pointers.
Gales was named the PAC Player of the Week.
West Liberty: Junior guard Landon Butler (Latrobe) had a season-high 13 points, on 6-of-7 shooting, in a 104-71 victory over Point Park.
Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore Cam Rowell (Franklin Regional) put up 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and added three blocks to pace the Presidents to an 86-71 victory over Chatham.
Westmoreland County Community College: A pair of former local prep standouts — and brothers — are coaching together with the Wolfpack.
Marvel McGowan (Greensburg Salem) and Christian McGowan (Greensburg Central Catholic) are on coach Scott Morrison’s staff.

Women’s basketball
Bethany: Junior forward Kate Botti (Norwin) had started all eight games early on for the Bison and was averaging a team-high 8.9 rebounds, along with 4.9 points.
Chatham: Senior forward Alyssa Laukus (Norwin), a fourth-year starter, is again one of the top post players in the Division III Presidents’ Athletic Conference. The 6-footer is on pace for a career season with 13.6-point, 5.5-rebound averages.
Point Park: Freshman Kam Pieper (Penn-Trafford) is showing her nose for the ball and defensive ability at the college level. She had started all six games and was averaging 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks a game for the Pioneers, who are now playing in Division II.
He 29.5 minutes-per-game average is second on the team.
Robert Morris: Senior forward Bailey Kuhns (Greensburg Central Catholic) fouled out with 11 points, but the Colonials edged Northern Kentucky, 60-58, to move to 6-2.
South Carolina Upstate: Redshirt sophomore Emma Blair (Latrobe) is averaging 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 14.1 minutes off the bench for the Spartans.

Women’s bowling
Saint Vincent: Coach Jeff Zidek’s Bearcats made the national rankings. They checked in last week at No. 21 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association NCAA All-Divisions poll.
SVC (33-2) is the only Division III team in the top 25.
The team made the NCAA Tournament last year.

Women’s soccer
Pitt-Greensburg: Sophomore Bella Carroto and Dionna Santia were named to the All-ECAC second team.
Carroto led the team in goals (14) and points (32), which ranked second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in both categories.
Santia was a defensive anchor on a team with seven shutouts and led the team in minutes played (1,504).
She was second in the AMCC with 10 assists.

Wrestling
Pitt: Redshirt junior heavyweight Dayton Pitzer (Mt. Pleasant) earned a pin with 39 seconds left in the second period to help lead No. 16 Pitt to a 35-3 win over Maryland.
Redshirt junior Chase Kranitz (Norwin) also earned a win, 18-3, at 184 for the Panthers. At 141, redshirt junior Briar Priest (Hempfield) won 8-5.
Pitt-Johnstown: Redshirt senior Isaiah Vance (Hempfield) finished as a runner-up at heavyweight at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis.
A champion at the event last season and the top-ranked 285-pounder in the nation, Vance had three falls and a major decision to reach the finals but lost to Carter Blough of Grand Valley State, 10-0.

Women’s volleyball
Seton Hill: Junior middle hitter Catie Flohr was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention. It is her third straight All-American accolade.
Flohr led the Griffins with 314 kills while hitting .290. She added 95 blocks, 85 kills and 34 service aces.

Men’s cross country
Mercyhurst: Freshman Thomas Gaydos (Norwin) was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team, following his All-NEC honor earlier in the season.
Both honors stem from a 14th-place finish at the conference championships.

Men’s golf
West Virginia: Sophomore Nick Turwoski (Penn-Trafford) put together a memorable second season for the Mountaineers. He had four top-five finishes, five top-10 finishes, was 34-under-par for the season and posted a 70.19 scoring average.
Turowski is ranked No. 105 nationally.
