The Presidents’ Athletic Conference softball and men’s lacrosse playoffs were going on in full force over the weekend, but one school was missing from both tournaments: Saint Vincent.
The Bearcats had to forfeit their earned spots in both tournaments because of a covid-19 shutdown on campus in Unity Township.
The softball team had to cancel its final four regular season games and finished 12-15-1 (6-8 PAC).
Lacrosse lost its final regular season game as more dominoes fell because of the outbreak, announced April 29 with a shelter-in-place order from the college.
Last weekend, a Saint Vincent baseball series against Westminster was postponed, the men’s lacrosse game at Franciscan was canceled and the Bearcats withdrew from the PAC track and field and men’s tennis tournaments.

Men’s golf
Gannon: Junior Clayton Skoff (Franklin Regional) finished at 20-over-par 236 to help the Golden Knights win the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional at Lake View Country Club in North East.
West Virginia: Senior Mark Goetz (Greensburg/The Kiski School) was selected to compete in the NCAA Regional qualifier May 15-19 at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind. He becomes the first individual NCAA qualifier in school history. Goetz will compete against nine other players over 54 holes with the low scorer — not on an advancing team — qualifying for the NCAA championship May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Goetz won the 54-hole Mountaineer Invitational by 12 shots last month at Pete Dye Golf Club. His 12-under score set a school record in relation to par.

Men’s track & field
Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Mason Jobe (Greensburg Salem) posted a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 5.62 seconds and took eighth in the 1,500-meter run at the PSAC championships.
Seton Hill: Junior Sam Hartman won two individual titles and was named most outstanding track athlete at the PSAC championships at Shippensburg. Hartman won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.88 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 51.67 seconds.
Sophomore Hunter Martin (Belle Vernon), meanwhile, won the long jump with a mark of 7.17 meters. He also was third in the triple jump.

Women’s track & field
IUP: Junior Rachel Horrell (Ligonier Valley) placed fifth in the triple jump (11.45 meters) at the PSAC championships.
Seton Hill: Junior Sydney Wolf took first in the 800 at the PSAC championships, going wire-to-wire in a time of 2:16.20.
