Mt. Pleasant native and Saint Vincent graduate Kristin (Hozak) Consuegra has joined the Presidents’ Athletic Conference in a progressive position.
Consuegra was named the Assistant Commissioner for Governance and Championships in the conference. The position is funded partially through the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant and is meant to help fund Division III conferences and member schools that want to enhance “ethnic minority and gender representation in mid- to senior-level intercollegiate athletics administrative positions.”
She also will serve as the PAC’s Senior Woman Administrator and be the conference’s top liaison to the SWA council.
Additionally, Consuegra will be the conference’s advisor on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
“This is an exciting time to be joining the Presidents’ Athletic Conference staff. As a former PAC student-athlete, I look forward to connecting with and working alongside the administrators, coaches and student-athletes that now call the PAC home,” Consuegra said in a news release. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with this wonderful group of institutions that take such pride in balancing academic excellence with strong and competitive athletics programs while embracing the NCAA Division III philosophy of placing the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience of our student-athletes. A three-time all-conference setter at Saint Vincent, Consuegra spent two years as a graduate assistant with the IUP women’s volleyball program and was the head volleyball coach at Chatham in 2010-11.
Consuegra’s husband, Daniel, was a two-time All-American baseball player at Saint Vincent. He is the principal at Apollo-Ridge High School.
Baseball
Saint Vincent: Grad student TJ Dailey signed to play for the Weimar Hormigas of the Pecos League, which has independent professional teams from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, California and Arizona.
The outfielder batted .341 with eight home runs, 43 RBIs and 40 runs scored this season for SVC.
He earned a spot in the league through a tryout.
He homered in his second pro at-bat. The next day, he hit a grand slam.
Men’s track and field
Seton Hill: Senior Sam Hartman was a repeat winner for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
He is the only male track athlete in school history to win a national championship.
He won a pair of PSAC titles this season, in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, both with NCAA provisional times (14.34 and 52.23 seconds).
He qualified for both events at the NCAA Division II Championships.
In addition to winning national outdoor titles last season in the same events, Hartman was named the USTFCCA Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year.
Women’s lacrosse
Seton Hill: Seniors Jaclyn Frank and Colleen Roy were selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Senior Division II All-Star Game June 5 in Sparks, Md. Both played on the North Team.
Frank was the PSAC West Athlete of the Year and an All-PSAC West player who led the Griffins with 109 points (43 goals, 66 assists).
Roy, a second-team all-conference selection, caused 19 turnovers and had 28 ground balls.
