Longtime Saint Vincent women’s volleyball coach Sue Hozak is among the most successful coaches in the nation.
She has the wins to prove it.
Hozak, who has guided the team since 1985, picked up her 700th career win as SVC defeated visiting Geneva, 3-0, in a PAC match at Carey Center.
A 1979 Norwin graduate, Hozak began her coaching career at Ringgold High School. While there, she saw an ad for a coaching opening at Saint Vincent.
The rest is history. And history is 41 years on the sidelines that included six district or conference coach of the year awards.
SVC won ECAC Division II championships in 2006 and ’07.
Hozak works on campus as an associate athletic director, senior women’s administrator and compliance director.
In the milestone-clinching match, sophomore Meegan Williams had 12 kills and 13 digs — her eighth double-double of the season — freshman Bailey Green chipped in 17 assists and sophomore Dakota Hershberger had 11 digs for the Bearcats (5-9, 4-4).
In the previous match, Williams had 12 kills and 13 digs, Green handed out 18 assists and freshman Brenna McCracken added 13 digs as SVC swept Waynesburg, 3-0.
