Westmoreland Campus Clippings: Seton Hill coach resigns

Andy McNab resigned as the Seton Hill women’s soccer coach after four seasons. He is leaving to coach the women’s team at Barton College in Wilson, N.C.

McNab spent two years with the Griffins as an assistant.

Seton Hill reached the PSAC playoffs the last two years, finishing 12-6-1 in 2017 and 12-5-1 in ’18, and found its way into the regional and national rankings.

McNab hails from Glasgow, Scotland. He played at Salem International from 2004-08 and won three WVIAC titles as an all-conference player.

His coaching career started as a men’s assistant at Salem International in 2008, and he served as an assistant at Greenville (Ill.) in ’09 before becoming Salem’s women’s head coach from 2010-12.

Men’s track & field

Seton Hill: Senior Dontay Jacobs broke a school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.79 seconds at the Dave Labor Invitational at Slippery Rock. He finished third and also took bronze in the 100.

The 400 relay of Dominic Frisina, Jacobs, Cody Kelly and John Orlando finished first in 41.75. Freshman Samuel Hartman won the 100 hurdles (14.85 seconds) and the 400 hurdles (55.24), and senior DaLon Ryles was first in the long jump (6.63 meters).

Women’s track & field

Seton Hill: Senior Ameriah Walters (Valley) won the 200 dash at the Dave Labor Invitational at Slippery Rock with a time of 25.08 seconds. Junior Sarah Johnson won the 400 hurdles (1:04.18), and senior Lexi Stevenson was first in the shot put (13.91 meters).

Men’s swimming

Purdue: Freshman Ryan Hrosik won the 50-yard freestyle in 19.75 seconds at the Big Ten championships. The mark broke the school’s freshman record of 19.86 seconds. Hrosik has family in Greensburg.

Men’s lacrosse

Saint Vincent: Junior Frank Casile had three goals — and junior Ben Price, senior Ryan Filyo and sophomore Tyler Condrasky (Norwin) each added two — to lead SVC (4-6, 2-0) to a 17-6 win over Washington & Jefferson.

Seton Hill: Junior Max Eismann posted a career-high 20 saves, and redshirt junior Bennett Johnson had four goals to power the Griffins (7-3, 2-0) to a 13-11 win over Mercyhurst. Eismann was named to the USILA Team of the Week and was named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Men’s golf

Saint Vincent: Senior Nate Yackovich tied for third at the Thiel Spring Invitational (74) and guided the Bearcats to a runner-up finish. The performance earned him PAC Player of the Week recognition.

Women’s golf

Saint Vincent: Sophomore Sydney Ball picked up PAC Women’s Player of the Week honors. She won the Westminster Invitational with an 83 and helped the Bearcats to a runner-up finish.

Westminster: Freshman Jocelyn Behr (Franklin Regional) was named PAC Rookie of the Week after she tied for third at the Westminster Invitational (94), her second top-five finish of her college career.
