Westmoreland campus clippings: WCCC women's cross country wins regional title
The WPCC champion Westmoreland County Community College women’s cross country team ran to its second Division III Region XX team championship over the weekend at Hagerstown Community College. Freshmen Brooke Bertovich and Jenna Hildenbrand (Norwin) paced WCCC by finishing second (23 minutes, 18.6 seconds) and fourth (23:36.7), respectively, to earn all-region recognition.
Freshman Olivia Jumper (Greensburg) was seventh (25:18.1).
WCCC will compete in the NJCAA Championships on Saturday at Holyoke Community College (Mass.).

Lackawanna: Sophomore defensive end Robert Kennedy (Jeannette) was named the Northeast Conference (junior college) Athlete of the Week after his performance against Nassau Community College. Kennedy had two interceptions, including a pick-6, and five tackles, as Lackawanna won 48-18.
Lackawanna is ranked No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA poll.

Slippery Rock: Sophomore defender Katie Ericson (Norwin) scored the first goal of her college career in the Rock’s 2-1 victory over Seton Hill.
West Virginia: Redshirt freshman defender Mackenzie Aunkst (Penn-Trafford) has started 10 games since returning from a knee injury and has two shot attempts for the Mountaineers (8-6-2, 3-3-1).

Men’s swimming
Allegheny: Senior Justin Katchur (Hempfield) won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke when the Gators defeated Grove City, 137-121. His winning times were 59.29 seconds (100) and 2:13.39 (200).
Saint Vincent: Junior Zach Baum (Derry) was named PAC Swimmer of the Week. He won three events in a meet at Mount Union: the 100-yard freestyle (48.47 seconds), the 50-yard freestyle (21.80) and the 100-yard butterfly (52.02). He also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.21).

Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Rylee Jackson (Latrobe) earned a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 17.68 seconds, and senior Karley Owens (Latrobe) reached the league-qualifying standard with a time of 2:34.16 in the 200 breaststroke during a 73-57 dual-meet victory over Millersville.
Jackson transferred from Wheeling Jesuit.
Saint Vincent: Freshman Lauren Connors was named PAC Rookie of the Week. She placed first in three events — the 100- (1:00.24) and 200-yard (2:15.82) backstrokes, and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.20) — in a win at Mount Union. She also led the 200 medley relay to a win (1:53.08).

Women’s volleyball
Saint Vincent: Senior Sarah Wozniak had a game-high 22 kills, and junior Madison Reeping added 13. Freshmen Carly Augustine (Latrobe) and Sierra Widmar had 28 assists apiece and combined for 29 digs in a 3-2 win over Washington & Jefferson. SVC is 12-17 overall and 7-6 in the PAC.
Seton Hill: With a pair of 3-0 victories, over IUP and Pitt-Johnstown, the Griffins (12-8, 7-4 PSAC) posted a two-game sweep over the weekend.
Against UPJ, senior Jillian Livorse had a team-best 13 kills, and junior Viktoria Farian and freshman Bobbi Rempe added eight and seven kills, respectively. Farian added four aces, and senior Taylor Sabol (Norwin) had 37 assists.
Seton Hill is in first place in the PSAC Southwest.
Farian was named the PSAC Southwest Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. She had 48 kills and 45 digs across three matches for the Griffins, including a 27-kill effort against Fairmont State.
Washington & Jefferson: Freshman Kylie Jester (Ligonier Valley) had a career-high six blocks in a 3-0 loss to Saint Vincent.
Westmoreland CCC: Freshman Haley Kolar (Southmoreland) earned All-WPCC honors after she led the Wolfpack in digs (92) and aces (28) and finished second in kills (50).

Saint Vincent: Sophomore Maura Skelly was named to the PAC first feam for singles, and she and freshman Angela Popovich (Hempfield) earned first-team honors in doubles.
