William & Mary football was picked to repeat as champion of the Coastal Athletic Association.

A local player is expected to have an impact on that title run.

Senior Marcus Barnes, a Jeannette graduate, was named an All-CAA honorable mention at safety.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Barnes played in 13 games, starting six of them. He was second on the team with 66 tackles, and he had two interceptions. His career game came against Elon when he made 10 tackles for the Tribe (11-2).

Mike Evans’ college career is on pause at the moment, but the wide receiver has options.

Evans, a Franklin Regional alum who played in three games in two years at Robert Morris and did not have any receptions as a walk-on at West Virginia, reentered the NCAA transfer portal in 2022.

He lists recent offers from UMass and Bowling Green. Evans has three years of eligibility remaining.
