Why did Jay Glazer pivot so quickly after jabbing Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger?

In this week’s “Madden Monday” podcast, Mark Madden and I give you tons of sports.

Even though there are no sports.

Thankfully, the NFL continues to give us plenty of content during the covid-19 pandemic. The league’s schedule came out. Now the question becomes, will it actually be played, or will the virus keep the whole sport on the sidelines?

Similarly, Major League Baseball has come up with its latest plan to restart the season. But how feasible is it? Mark and I have doubts. And one specific concern stands out beyond the rest.

We also debate if a season of less than 80 games is worth playing.

Things aren’t exactly great on the NHL front either. So Mark and I try to talk about some hockey-related items that may not have anything to do with the shutdown. We recap Mark’s conversation with Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford.

If the league ever does get going again, Mark seems to believe that the Penguins have an excellent chance of making a deep run. He gives us his reasoning.

Jaromir Jagr was named the best right wing in the expansion-era history of the NHL by NHL.com writers. Mark disagrees. He gives us a better candidate.

Back to the Steelers, the two of us have some thoughts on why Jay Glazer backtracked on his criticism of Ben Roethlisberger’s workout routine. I think Glazer’s buddy — Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin — may have interceded. Mark’s view is a bit more nuanced.

We also launch into the futures of JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner and the team’s draft class.

Most importantly, though, now that “Brockmire” has concluded (in very odd fashion, by the way), what do we watch during the week on television? And how quickly can ESPN pump out those new documentaries now that “The Last Dance” is drawing to a close?

ASAP would be good!
