The widow of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins announced a memorial service would be held in Pittsburgh and thanked Steelers fans for their emotional support.

In a statement released through the Steelers, Kalabrya Haskins addressed “every living soul who has supported our family during this arduous time of loss” by saying “all of your blessings have been greatly valued and appreciated.”

Dwayne Haskins died Saturday morning when he was struck by a dump truck on a highway in South Florida. He was 24.

In addition to services next weekend previously announced for Haskins’ native New Jersey and at the high school he attended in Maryland, Kalabrya Haskins said Allegheny Center Alliance Church on Pittsburgh’s North Side would host a visitation 10-11 a.m. April 22 followed by “a celebration of life” until 1 p.m. that day.

“My husband was more than a great football player,” Kalabrya Haskins said in her statement. “He had the smile of a rainbow that touched the diversity of so many. He will forever rest and remain in our hearts til the end of time. His eternal love will always reside with us, Ohio State, Washington Commanders and Steelers Nation for eternity! LOVE OF MY LIFE, FOREVER… REST IN THE BEAUTIFUL PEACE OF HEAVEN!”

A Heisman Trophy finalist for Ohio State in 2018, Haskins spent the 2021 season with the Steelers as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. He did not appear in a regular-season game.

Kalabrya Haskins said the family “implores for your continued prayers, yet continued respectful privacy as we painfully grieve.”
