The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed former St. Louis Blues defenseman Dmitri Samorukov to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2023-24 season.

A native of Volgograd, Russia, the left-handed Samorukov (6-foot-3, 188 pounds) spent the 2022-23 season with the St. Louis Blues organization, primarily with their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons. In 68 AHL games, Samorukov had a career-best 20 points (four goals, 16 assists). He also appeared in two games with the Blues last season and did not record a point while averaging 14:53 of ice time per contest.

Samorukov, 24, was a third-round pick (No. 84 overall) in the 2017 NHL draft by the Edmonton Oilers and played in one NHL game for that organization (with no points) during the 2021-22 season.
