With Bills coming to Pittsburgh, a look at recent domination by Steelers in series
It’s been more than two decades since the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers – and more than a quarter century since they won in Pittsburgh.
The Bills (9-4) visit Heinz Field on Sunday in a game that was flexed into primetime in part because the matchup of two teams with good records. The Steelers (8-5) have won seven of their past eight; the Bills had won six of eight before losing to the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday.
Buffalo has lost six consecutive games against the Steelers, including both previous meetings at Heinz Field. The Bills most recent victory was so long ago that the quarterback matchup that day (Oct. 10, 1999) was Doug Flutie against Kordell Stewart.

Since, the Steelers have outscored the Bills, 144-76, pushing their all-time lead in the series to 16-9. Since losing at home to Buffalo in Bill Cowher’s first playoff game after the 1992 season, the Steelers have won 10 of 11 meetings; this follows a stretch of seven wins in eight meetings by Buffalo during the 1980s and early 90s.
The last time the teams played, Le’Veon Bell had a franchise record 236 rushing yards and three touchdowns during a snowstorm for a 27-20 win on Dec. 11, 2016.
