Kenardo Forbes scored in the 57th minute to give Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC a 1-1 draw on the road at Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday at Heart Health Park in Sacramento, Calif.
The Riverhounds stayed in the hunt for home-field advantage in the upcoming USL Championship playoffs. Fourth-place Birmingham holds a one-point lead over the Hounds (15-9-9) and Detroit. The Riverhounds will wrap up the regular season Saturday when they host Oakland Roots SC (11-9-13) at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
The Hounds must get a result to have a shot to host the first round of the playoffs.
On Sunday, Rodrigo López scored on a penalty kick to give Sacramento (14-11-8) a 1-0 lead early in the second half. The Hounds answered three minutes later when Shane Wiedt sent a pass into the box for Forbes, who scored his second goal of the season.
During the match, midfielder Danny Griffin set a new Hounds record for minutes played at 2,965 minutes in league matches this season, surpassing the old record of 2,909 set in 2018 by Thomas Vancaeyezeele.
