Tre Flowers received quite the Christmas gift Thursday when he was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 53-man roster.

With the Steelers dealing with injuries throughout the secondary, they added Flowers for depth heading into their game Sunday at the Cleveland Browns.

Flowers, 30, was a fifth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, and he was a two-year starter in Seattle. He has started 44 of 97 career games and has been primarily a backup in his other stops. Flowers spent time with Cincinnati, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Indianapolis and Detroit. He appeared in two games with the Lions this season. He is 6-foot-3 and weighs 206 pounds.

Flowers has four career interceptions, 22 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

For the Steelers, cornerback James Pierre has been dealing with a calf injury that has kept him out the past two games, and slot corner Brandin Echols injured his groin last Sunday in Detroit.
