One of the premier two-way utility talents in Division III baseball, sophomore Tyler Horvat seemed to have an impact in every one of Washington & Jefferson’s 37 wins this season.

The Penn-Trafford product was honored for his contributions by being named to the D3Baseball.Com All-America First Team.

Horvat, an outfielder and pitcher, joined teammate Henry Litman on the All-American squad. Litman, a junior pitcher, made the third team.

Just 15 players in Division III were selected to the first team. Horvat had already earned Presidents’ Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and PAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

He is the first W&J player to receive first-team All-America status since Tim Boal in 1978.

Horvat was 9-0 on the mound with a 1.80 ERA in 70 innings. He had 71 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .184 batting average. As the team’s leadoff hitter, he posted a .366 average with 17 extra-base hits and 34 RBIs, and stole 11 bases and scored 34 times.

Litman also went 9-0 with a 1.49 ERA across 72 2/3 innings with 63 Ks and nine walks.

Horvat and Litman also were selected to the Mideast ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Mideast Region Team.

W&J (37-3) finished 1-2 at the NCAA regionals in High Point, N.C.
