On the day the United States Golf Association announced it was canceling qualifying tournaments for the U.S. Open, the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association was releasing its updated 2020 schedule.

WPGA executive director Terry Teasdale was cleaning the office Monday after unveiling the revamped schedule and trying to get ready for what will be an unusual year.

The first event scheduled is the WPGA Amateur qualifier June 22 at the Country Club at Meadville. A second qualifier will be June 25 at Hill Crest Country Club.

The 120th WPGA Amateur is July 6-7 at Allegheny Country Club and is shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes, 18 holes per day.

All WPGA events will be limited to 48 golfers except for the Amateur and Open. Some events have been shortened to 18-hole events.

“Everything is tentative,” Teasdale said. “I think we’ll be social distancing for a while. Who knows where we are in a month? Redoing the schedule is tough because of so many dates and big events already scheduled.”

Teasdale still is trying to finalize a date for the 117th WPGA Open.

The Tri-State PGA released its schedule Friday.

Some events cancelled by the WPGA include the 97th Father & Son and ninth Parent & Child tournaments, the 47th C.R. Miller Match Play, the third Girls Junior Match Play and the 61st Boys Championship.

Rescheduled events include the 100th Junior Championship (date to be announced), the 66th Fred Brand and 25th Semple Century Foursomes to July 20 at Longue Vue and the 27th Spring Stroke Play to June 29 at Westmoreland Country Club.
