Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin watches from the sideline during the NFL football game between Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park stadium in Dublin, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025.

Wide receiver Calvin Austin was injured early in the fourth quarter of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 24-21 victory Sunday after catching an 8-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers.

He was hit by Byron Murphy on the play and was ruled out with a shoulder injury.

Austin was taken to a Dublin hospital to have his shoulder examined. He had two catches for 13 yards and returned a pair of punts for 9 yards.

The Steelers also sustained several injuries in their secondary. Already minus cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who missed his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury, the Steelers had stretches with fellow corners Jaylen Ramsey, Brandin Echols and Darius Slay standing on the sideline.

Tomlin said Ramsey injured his hamstring. He was seen grabbing it at the end of a fumble return for a touchdown in the first quarter that was overruled on replay. Echols had issues with cramping, and Tomlin said Slay was “cleated.”

“It was what it was, but we were able “to get out of the stadium,” Tomlin said.

The bye week comes at a good time for the Steelers. Tomlin said he will give his players off Monday following the long flight back from Ireland. Players get a mandatory four-day weekend break, which leaves just two days of practice.

“There probably won’t be a lot of work in the week that lies ahead,” Tomlin said. “They are deserving of that. It’s probably appropriate because we’ve got a lot of people down.”
