An upcoming roundtable on communication is part of the New Kensington-Arnold School District’s goal of improving the district’s culture.
The roundtable is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 27 in the cafeteria at Valley Junior Senior High School, 703 Stevenson Blvd.
It is intended to bring together parents, business owners, community residents and others to talk about ways to improve communications at the district.
“This summer, our board of directors and administrative team established a goal of improving the culture of the district,” said Superintendent Chris Sefcheck. “To do so, we have scheduled focus group meetings to discuss ways to improve what we are doing.”
Sefcheck started as the district’s new superintendent on July 1, after the board approved hiring him in April.
The communication roundtable is aimed at giving the district’s key stakeholders “a platform to share their perspectives on what we do well as a district, things we should be addressing further and what is the consensus for a practice/procedure that needs the most improvement,” Sefcheck said.
“Most importantly, how can we communicate better to promote all the great things that are happening in our schools that gets overlooked?” he asked. “Parents in the community have approached administration with ideas that could help families in our community, and we want to hear what they have to say as a collective voice for our students.”
