A Brookline man is accused of robbing the Dollar Bank branch in Dormont on Wednesday.

Allegheny County Police said Ahmed Ali Asiri, 26, faces charges of robbery by oral or written demand, theft by unlawful taking and making terroristic threats in connection with the robbery of the Liberty Avenue bank late Wednesday afternoon.

Police said a man later identified as Asiri was wearing a surgical mask when he handed a note to a teller demanding money. He said he would kill people unless his demands were met, but no weapon was observed, police said.

The teller complied, and Asiri made off with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Dormont Police later received a tip and executed a search warrant at Asiri’s house, where they said they found the stolen cash and other evidence.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477). Callers can remain anonymous. The department can also be reached via its social media sites.
