Bridgeville youth were recognized May 12 for good citizenship.
At that night’s council meeting, Mayor Betty Copeland presented certificates of recognition to children who participated in this year’s Earth Day Community Cleanup held April 18.
“You have shown responsibility, kindness and pride in making the world a better place,” Copeland said. “Your actions demonstrate that small acts can make a big difference. Thank you for being a positive role model.”
Planning commission member sought
Council is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the borough’s planning commission.
Elizabeth Bellaver resigned from the commission. Council President Justine Cimarolli thanked Bellaver for her contributions.
The commission meets the fourth Monday of each month. It reviews subdivision, lot consolidation and development plans; changes to the zoning ordinance; and community planning efforts.
The position is voluntary and unpaid. The person appointed would serve a term that expires Jan. 3, 2028.
People interested in serving can submit a letter of interest and a resume to Borough Manager Joe Kauer, at the borough office, 425 Bower Hill Road, or email at jkauer@bridgevilleboro.com by June 15.
Chartiers Park pavilion ready
Construction of the new pavilion at Chartiers Park is now complete.
The pavilion seats up to 96 people. It has 12 picnic tables, wheelchair-accessible accommodations, utilities and built-in serving tables.

Also at the May 12 meeting, council:
• Granted a conditional use permit for Pittsburgh Pottery to operate a light manufacturing facility at 414 Margaret Street.
• Authorized submitting a state Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant application for the Chartiers Park lighting improvements project.
