A tractor-trailer overturned on the Irwin exit ramp of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, according to a Westmoreland County Public Safety supervisor.

Initial reports said the vehicle was coming from New Stanton and when it wrecked along the ramp at about 8 p.m. in North Huntingdon.

Reports from the scene indicate that the rig flipped onto the driver’s side. Rescue crews reported entrapment.

Both the on-ramp and off-ramp were shut down to allow rescue crews access to the scene.

The ramp still was closed at 11:45 p.m., according to the public safety supervisor.
