A Duquesne man accused of using the internet to lure and sexually assault a 14-year-old girl last year was taken into custody Monday, authorities said.
Cameron Salmon, 21, had been on the run since August 2021 when he faced charges involving a firearm, according to Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus’ office. Since that time, additional charges have been filed against him, including aggravated assault by Duquesne police in January 2022.
Salmon is also accused of luring the 14-year-old girl to the basement of a home in Swissvale, according to a charges filed in February 2022 by Allegheny County police. The victim told police that Salmon gave her marijuana to smoke and then he sexually assaulted her in front of her 13-year-old friend, according to a criminal complaint.
Salmon is facing charges of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, criminal use of communication, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor, according to court documents.
The victim was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the complaint said. The Tribune-Review does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Sheriff’s detectives tracked Salmon this week to at a residence in Wilmerding. When detectives arrived Monday morning, Salmon attempted to flee out of a second floor window but was stopped by a sheriff’s office police dog. Salmon then surrendered without incident.
