Rotary honors 13 Fox Chapel Area seniors
Fox Chapel Area senior Ryan Setzenfand was honored by the Rotary Club of Fox Chapel Area for living the club’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
The award was given for his excellence in community service, club officials said, during a luncheon on May 15 at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
Twelve other Fox Chapel Area seniors were honored by the Rotary for academics in specific disciplines. They are:
- Matthew Good, Business
- Mia Hursh, World Language
- Aiden Yoo, Art
- Courtney Kennedy, Health & Physical Education
- Trevor Klatt, Technology Education
- Katie Schwartzman, Science
- Grace Stasolla, Social Studies
- Cara Himmel, English
- Adina Munin, Media
- Theresa Heidenreich, Music
- Jay Kashyap, Math
- Cassandra Cook, Family and Consumer Science
The students, chosen by their teachers, were honored for outstanding academic achievement but also for embodying the Rotarian ideals of good citizenship and service to others.
“Honoring area high school seniors is a highlight of our year,” Walter Jenkins, club president, said. “These students underscore the very values that Rotary stands for.”
Each senior was given a certificate, a cash award and the opportunity to address the Rotarians about their future plans.
Social studies teacher and Rotary member Jen Klein introduced the students.
