Since Freeport borough contracted with a new garbage hauler this year, Waste Management Inc., a new garbage pickup schedule starts Tuesday.

Households on eight streets will now have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, starting this Tuesday. Those residents with the new pickup schedule on Tuesdays are in homes located along: Locust, Stewart, Buffalo, Washington, Franklin and Mill streets; Hickory Way, and Second Street Extension.

Residents in Laneville will continue to have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays, according to borough officials.

Residents in the main part of town from Cherry Way to Riverside Drive will continue to have their garbage picked up on Fridays.
