Medical examiner makes ruling in police chief’s death

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death of Heidelberg’s police chief a suicide.

Heidelberg police Chief Dennis Dixon, 57, of South Park was found dead his patrol car Monday, Allegheny County Police said. The car was parked in the 600 block of Grant Avenue.

Dixon was hired by the Heidelberg Police Department in 2008. He was appointed to chief in 2018.

The medical examiner’s ruling was announced Saturday afternoon.
