Two Penn Hills children were struck by vehicles in as many days.

Police Chief Howard Burton said a 6-year-old boy was hit by a car at a bus stop at Frankstown Road and Erhardt Drive early Wednesday morning.

Burton said the bus was headed eastbound along Frankstown Road and boy was struck by a car headed in the opposite direction .

He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and is expected to recover from minor injuries. It’s unclear what school that boy attended.

Burton said officers received conflicting stories about the incident. The driver told police he was attempting to go past the bus while its yellow lights were on, while the bus driver said the lights were red.

“We’re trying to determine whether the red lights were on or not,” Burton said. “There’s plenty of room to see at that bus stop. Erhardt is very wide. It wasn’t like they didn’t see the bus.”

The incident remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, a Linton Middle School student is recovering from minor injuries after being struck in the school’s parking lot Tuesday morning.

Burton said a driver was going the wrong way in the lot when a boy was hit. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and is expected to recover from minor injuries.

Penn Hills School District Superintendent Nancy Hines confirmed the accident at the middle school, but declined further comment due to the ongoing police investigation.
