Clairton teens face charges in Antwon Rose protest fight
More than a dozen Clairton students face charges in connection with a fight that broke out last month during a protest against the acquittal of former officer Michael Rosfeld, police Chief Robert Hoffman said Tuesday.
The students walked out of Clairton High School about 12:30 p.m. March 25, three days after a jury found Rosfeld not guilty of homicide in the June 2018 shooting of Antwon Rose II.
Several teenagers assaulted the driver of a vehicle who came upon their protest.
The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office recommended charges against 19 people – 18 juveniles and one 18-year-old charged as an adult, Hoffman said.
Three teens, ages 15 to 17, are charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. One 17-year-old faces those charges as well as a count of criminal mischief for breaking a police officer’s body camera.
Fourteen juveniles ranging in age from 13 to 17 are charged with disorderly conduct. Trinity Molinari, 18, faces one count of disorderly conduct.
All are from Clairton.
Rosfeld was an East Pittsburgh officer.
