The beaches, sunsets and volcanic rainforest hikes of Honolulu apparently aren’t as appealing to travelers as the pierogies, beers and foodie paradise of Pittsburgh, a magazine reader’s survey found.

Condé Nast Traveler published its rankings of the best small and large cities to visit in the United States with its 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards, which are based on travel ratings submitted by more than 600,000 people from around the world.

Pittsburgh ranked No. 8 of the Top 10 large cities.

The magazine cited the Pittsburgh’s wealth of arts, cultural and historical institutions. The magazine included checking out the original Misters Rogers’ Neighborhood set at Heinz History Center and the city’s burgeoning dining scene “that involves way more than slapping fries on everything (though we recommend that, too).”

The city scored extra points for its high concentration of bars and breweries.

“You could spend a whole weekend brewery-hopping — there are at least 20 within city limits,” the magazine wrote about Pittsburgh, suggesting that newcomers start with a stroll through the city’s Strip District and a bite at Gaucho Parilla Argentina or DiAnoia’s Eatery.

Chicago clinched first place on the Condé Nast Traveler rankings, followed by Minneapolis, Boston and New Orleans.

Hawaii’s capital still made the list, at No. 9, sliding in right after Pittsburgh and just ahead of San Antonio.

Here are the top 10 large cities, per the 2019 Readers Choice Awards:

1). Chicago

2). Minneapolis

3). Boston

4). New Orleans

5). Washington D.C.

6). San Diego

7) New York

8) Pittsburgh

9) Honolulu

10). San Antonio
