Steelers fans have yet another reason to cheer: Kennywood’s Steelers Country recently received a national recognition.
Steelers Country, which opened at the West Mifflin park over the summer, was named ninth on USA Today’s 10 Best New Amusement Park Attractions of 2019.
“Kennywood Park and the Pittsburgh Steelers teamed up to create a new themed land in 2019, Steelers Country,” USA Today wrote. “The highlight is the new Steel Curtain roller coaster, which reaches speeds of 76 miles per hour and navigates nine inversions (the most in North America), including the world’s tallest at 197 feet.”
Another high point for Steelers Country: the new area, highlighted by Steel Curtain, was voted one of the USA TODAY 10Best New Amusement Park Attractions!

Steelers Country ranked ahead of the Tidal Twister roller coaster at SeaWorld in San Diego.
Sesame Street Land at the Orlando, Fla. SeaWorld ranked first.
Winners are named by a panel of experts who pick 20 initial nominees. From there, the top 10 were determined by a popular vote.
This is not the first award the park has received since opening the new Pittsburgh Steelers section. The Steel Curtain roller coaster took the Best New Roller Coaster award in September at an industry event at the Silverwood Theme Park in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
The coaster takes riders 220 feet above the Monongahela River and then drops them through nine inversions. The ride lasts about two minutes.
Kennywood claims it is the tallest roller coaster in Pennsylvania.
