A man was fatally shot inside a vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park area Wednesday night.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Lavonte Martel Howard, 28, of Pittsburgh.

City Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers responded to a Shotspotter alert for multiple shots fired shortly before 8:10 p.m. along the 5700 block of Jackson Street.

Police found Howard dead in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Cruz said an unoccupied vehicle nearby also sustained damage from the gunfire. No other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7800.
