1 dead in Washington County crashes on Thanksgiving

Portions of I-79 and I-70 in Washington County were closed after two crashes Thursday evening, one of them fatal.

At least one person was killed in the crash on northbound I-79 at the bridge over I-70 in South Strabane, according to TribLive news partner WTAE. Multiple injuries and vehicles were reported at the crash scene.

A second serious crash on I-70 eastbound was between exits 15 and 16 and involved a jackknifed tractor trailer. It was not known if there were injuries in that crash

The Cecil Township Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that icy road conditions are present in the area and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
