Portions of I-79 and I-70 in Washington County have reopened after two crashes Thursday evening, one of them fatal.

A Wheeling woman was killed in the crash on northbound I-79 at the bridge over I-70 in South Strabane, according to the county coroner. Multiple injuries and vehicles were reported at the crash scene just before 5:45 p.m.

Jamie Doreen Wiles, 64, was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle that lost control due to icy road conditions. Coroner Tim Warco said the vehicle crashed on the south junction ramp carrying I-79 onto I-70 west. The driver and a backseat passenger were also transported to area hospitals.

Emergency service units from Canonsburg, Fort Cherry, Rostraver and North and South Strabane departments assisted on-scene among other departments.

A second serious crash on I-70 eastbound was between exits 15 and 16 and involved a jackknifed tractor trailer. It was not known if there were injuries in that crash

The Cecil Township Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that icy road conditions are present in the area and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
