A section of Drake Road in Bethel Park will be closed for nearly four months starting on Monday for repairs, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

Beginning at 9 a.m., Drake Road will be closed between South Park Road and Crestview Drive so crews can repair a culvert, replace to stormwater inlets and install “scour” protection, which is a system used to control the erosion of soil around bridge foundations.

Traffic will follow a detour along South Park, McMurry and Bethel Church roads.

Residents who live along Drake Road will have access to their homes at all times.

The work is being done by Pittsburgh-based Pugliano Construction as part of a $1.7 million capital bridges contract, according to county officials.
