Shaler Area retains leadership as 3 new members join school board
Leadership of the Shaler Area School Board is unchanged following the November election, which saw three new members join the board.
James Tunstall was reelected president of the board at its Dec. 3 reorganization meeting. Eileen Phillips was reelected vice president.
Their seats were not up for election this year, which saw voters fill five of the board’s nine seats.
Newly elected to the board are Daeja Baker and Amy Goldberg, both representing Region 1, and Robert Cessar, who was unopposed for a four-year term in Region 3.
Reelected to the board were Elizabeth Dunn in Region 2 and Edward Kress, who was unopposed for a two-year term in Region 3.
The board will continue to begin its public meetings at 7:30 p.m. at the administrative offices at 1800 Mt. Royal Blvd. They also will be available on Zoom, with information to access the meetings posted on the district’s website at shalerarea.org.
Committee meetings are scheduled for Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, May 13, June 10, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14 and Nov. 11.
The March 11 meeting will be held at the A.W. Beattie Career Center, 9600 Babcock Blvd.
Voting meetings are scheduled for Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, May 20, June 17, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21 and Nov. 18.
A combined committee and voting meeting will be held on April 22. No committee or voting meetings are scheduled for July.
The board will reorganize at 7 p.m. Dec. 2, 2026.
