Two Leechburg residents are charged with taking a borough parking meter because, as one said, it would be “cool to have.”

Lynzi Wolfe, 31, and John Edward Johnston Jr., 27, sre accused of taking the meter on May 7.

According to court papers, the meter is worth about $140. It’s unclear whether there was money inside.

Police say a store owner’s surveillance cameras show a man and woman removing the broken meter and putting it near a Third Street dumpster, where it was later retrieved.

Police accuse Wolfe and Johnston of getting the meter and taking it to Wolfe’s residence.

The two are charged of theft, receiving stolen property and two counts of criminal mischief.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled July 3 before District Judge James Andring.
