State police arrested a man who allegedly barricaded himself in a camper with a semi automatic pistol for more than two hours Sunday afternoon.

Timothy B. Minerd, 47, of Mt. Pleasant shot at the ground in front of troopers before retreating into the camper, according to a police report.

The troopers were investigating a hit-and-run crash on Blacksmith Road.

Witnesses said a blue Dodge pickup was involved in the crash.

Investigators found the truck in front of the camper on Shady Lane.

That’s when Minerd started shooting, according to the police report.

Police set up a perimeter and called in the Special Emergency Response Team. Local fire departments were called to shut down the road and reroute traffic about 12:20 p.m.

Minerd was arrested and nobody was injured, according to police.

Fire departments were dismissed about 2:40 p.m.

Charges against Minerd are pending.
