State Sen. Kim Ward wants input from constituents on possible restrictions for when fireworks can be set off.
It’s the latest series of questions in the Hempfield Republican’s online legislative survey, a feature she started on her website in March.
Ward first sought responses through survey questions asking what Westmoreland County residents thought about Sunday hunting and the legalization of recreational marijuana.
The current survey questions ask whether constituents support legislative moves related to fireworks:
• Do you support banning the use of fireworks between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., except for holidays and if allowed by municipalities for special events and occasions?
• Do you support prohibiting the use of fireworks Monday through Thursday, except for holidays and if allowed by municipalities for special events and occasions?
The online questionnaire is a way to reach local people outside of the Capitol’s walls, Ward has said. Anyone can answer the questions, but respondents are asked to provide residency information so Ward can look at constituents’ answers.
