Does anyone in tiny North Irwin want to run for a seat on borough council in the Nov. 5 election?

If they want to mount a write-in campaign, a seat is there for the taking. In fact, three of the seven seats on council are open, according to the election ballot the borough’s voters will see next Tuesday.

No one in the town of about 840 people ran for any of three vacancies on council in the primary and no one gathered signatures to have their name placed on the ballot in the general election.

The terms of concilmen Ronald Brown, Terry Hill and John Lapinsky expire this year and none of them wanted to serve on council for a four-year term. Brown was appointed to fill a vacancy and Hill and Lapinski.

Earl H. Kiser Jr. and Amy Blake both won seats on council in the November 2015 general election, but neither still are serving on the governing body.

No one has placed campaign signs in town asking voters to write-in their names for borough council, said Lisa Gesler, the borough’s secretary-treasurer.

Mayor John McIntyre could not be reached for comment.
