Avonworth Superintendent Jeff Hadley will take on the same position at the Hampton Township School District.
The Hampton School Board this week appointed Hadley as its next superintendent.
Hadley succeeds Michael Loughead, who retires at the end of June after a decade in the position.
Salary information was not immediately available.

Hampton’s longstanding tradition of excellence is what inspired me to pursue this opportunity,” Hadley told TribLive. “As superintendent, my goal is to honor the values and traditions that have made Hampton such an exceptional school district while working alongside students, staff, families, and the community to build on that strong foundation.
“Together, we will continue creating opportunities that help every student discover their passions, develop their strengths, and find a path toward success beyond high school.”
Hadley has served as Avonworth’s superintendent since August 2021. There, he’s credited with leading programs that advanced academic achievement and community engagement, Hampton officials said. Hadley was Avonworth’s assistant superintendent since 2018 before being promoted.
Hadley began his educational career in 2000 as an elementary teacher in the Fox Chapel Area School District. He also worked in administrative positions in the Plum and Riverview school districts.
He earned a doctorate in education and his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from the University of Pittsburgh.
Hampton complemented Hadley’s involvement in organizations include the Digital Promise’s League of Innovative Schools, the Western Pennsylvania Forum for Superintendents, the national and state superintendent’s associations and Remake Learning, a national program of hands-on learning events that started in Pittsburgh.
“Following a highly competitive search process involving many outstanding candidates, Dr. Hadley emerged as the strongest candidate and best fit to lead the district into the future,” Hampton’s statement said.
