Letter to the editor: 'Fire' the incumbents

When those we elect fail to complete, on time, their sworn-to tasks of our state and federal Constitutions, it is a sure sign that we have selected the wrong representatives.

Their performance is surely not because they are not adequately compensated; I would argue otherwise. In the real world such performance would result in being fired. In the political world, you create your own rules, compensation and benefits without any approval from your employer, those you represent. Since political representation was never intended to be a full-time job, we the true employer can, by voting, solve the “not doing the job” problem.

My solution to the existing political arrogance is to not cast a vote for an incumbent. It is hard to believe that anyone else running for the office could do a poorer job than those serving us now. This also sends a message that it is way past time to eliminate full-time, overpaid, overcompensated political representation.
