Whether you love or hate President Trump, he is not the problem. Congress is. How many of today’s problems are due to Congress? Here’s some examples:
Congress has passed all required spending bills on time only four times in the last 50 years. That’s a 92% failure rate.
Congress has caused TSA and other essential workers not to be paid during a shutdown. Since 2019, several bills to pay TSA and FAA workers during shutdowns have been proposed by both Republicans and Democrats. None have passed. During the latest shutdown, Congress adjourned and went on Easter break.
Congress has passed numerous acts that conflict with other acts. For example, the Build America, Buy America Act to revitalize American manufacturing is slowing down and increasing costs for affordable housing. BABA requires all products used in government-funded projects to be made in America. However, many items used in home construction cost more if made in America, or are not made here, e.g., ceiling fans. To use a foreign product, builders must go through a long and cumbersome waiver process.
Congress has failed to pass meaningful immigration reform for over 20 years, causing presidents to attempt to fix a problem. This often results in lawsuits and court cases that simply delay meaningful legislation.
So, I say, the real problem is Congress and to some extent the people who keep reelecting some of its members.
