Letter to the editor: No Kings? No thanks.
I’m an advocate for the First Amendment with no holds barred, and I support the right to peacefully protest. But lately I need a whiteboard to follow the diversity of protests. The “No Kings” protests are now the hot ticket. Although I don’t remember a king being coronated, only a president being duly elected.
I must be falling behind because I finally found the proper color keffiyeh to match my new Converse sneakers but it seems these protests are already out of fashion. I put my BLM banner in storage after the organization’s leaders were exposed for scamming millions in donations to buy luxury real estate. And what about all of the Ukrainian and rainbow flags? Even Greta Thunberg is getting confused.
Who can forget marching for the Tea Party, climate change, Me Too, Occupy Wall Street, George Floyd, Hands Across America and Hands Off? Even old former hippies who protested the Vietnam War are “letting their freak flags fly” once again.
The “No Kings” protest won’t work for me since I believe in a king, the one true king, Jesus Christ. And people have been protesting and rejecting him for thousands of years, but to no avail. So, I’ll just wait for the next protest … it won’t be long.
