I find Sheriff James Albert’s complaints about transporting prisoners perplexing. He claims it should not be his department’s responsibility and if that duty was to be taken away, it would save taxpayers $250,000. How? Whether local police or Pennsylvania State Police transport prisoners, it is still going to be up to taxpayers to foot the bill. In other words, Mr. Albert, either way we are going to pay for this service, and guess what? Taxpayers don’t care who does it. And by the way, who is paying for the lawsuit relating to the transporting of prisoners that Albert filed?

What is even more perplexing is the fact Albert claims it has left his department unable to fulfill other functions, yet he volunteers his department to assist ICE in doing the very thing he is complaining about doing, transporting prisoners. Who is going to pay for that? Guess who, voters? Not only are Albert’s complaints perplexing, but they are also annoying. I think voters need to remember this in 2027.
