“Panama Canal, Greenland in Trump’s sight” was the chilling headline on your Jan. 8 front page (“Trump won’t rule out use of military force to take control of Greenland and the Panama Canal,” Jan. 7, TribLive). Adolf Hitler’s similar ambition for territorial expansion in pursuit of “living space” commenced with the annexation of Austria and Czechoslovakia (1938) and subsequent invasion of Poland, leading to World War II and the murder of at least 5 million Jews, and millions of others. By 1945, Germany was in ruins and Hitler had committed suicide.

Trump’s repeated threats to buy or take by military action other weaker nations resonates with Hitler’s agenda, as do his continued threats against journalists, Latin American immigrants, political rivals, and our judiciary and Constitution.
