After previous elections, the motto was “work together to improve the country.” Now the motto is “resist, vilify and protest. Our party must win.”

Protesting must be fun. You get to blow whistles, chant, sing and dance (party?). You can vent frustrations by throwing rocks and fireworks at real people. You can relive youthful protests. You may even be paid.

But what do protests accomplish?

Iran’s government shoots protesters, executes LGBT people, demeans women, aims missiles at civilians. They seek to eradicate an entire population. Missiles and atomic weapons outweigh human needs.

I believe the “No Kings” protests are funded by the real oligarchs and de-facto kings like George Soros and Neville Singham; you are doing their bidding.

Protests against ICE impede the arrest of known felons and cartel members. You are not helping an impoverished asylum seeker.

The country needs workers, not grandstanding protesters spouting half-truths. Replace momentary highs with meaningful work. Benevolent and nonprofit organizations need workers and money. Volunteer for them. Advocate for a deserving emigrant. Send aid to war-torn areas. Contribute any way you can.

Stay positive and seek to improve your neighbors and your country, not just your party.
