Letter to the editor: Where is MAWC leadership?

By now, many have lodged complaints about their water bill, service, taste, interruptions and a litany of other reasons to be disgruntled. My plea here is a bit different. Have you tried to talk with anyone in leadership at the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County? Do you know who runs this organization? Are there public-facing decision-makers available to discuss a matter? You can find leadership and board members on the MAWC website, but I challenge you to get someone to talk or open a letter.

While trying to remotely manage a leak for my late father’s Jeannette home, I was unsuccessful in finding anyone in leadership to talk to me about the situation aside from billing agents reading bill details and placing me on hold to “talk to their supervisor.”

The leak was devastating and completely my responsibility. Trying to learn how the repairs could potentially lower our financial burden during a difficult time was futile.

MAWC leadership, step out, get closer to your customers and provide some backup and support to your telephone staff. A small dose of transparency is long overdue in the leadership ranks of the MAWC.
