Baltimore Orioles draft former Canon-McMillan pitcher Cameron Weston
Former Canon-McMillan star Cameron Weston, who helped win WPIAL and PIAA baseball titles in 2018, was selected Monday in the eighth round of the MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.
Weston was picked 227th overall.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-hander finished his junior season at Michigan, where he ranked among the team’s top pitchers this spring. He was named to the Big Ten all-tournament team after the Wolverines won the conference title.
Weston led the team in innings pitched as a sophomore (83 1/3) and finished second this year with 81 2/3. The career starter shifted to closer late in the season and tallied four saves and one win down the stretch.
He finished 5-4 with a 4.74 ERA, 92 strikeouts and 38 walks. As a sophomore, he went 7-2 with a 2.81 ERA and earned second-team all-conference honors.
In 2018, Canon-McMillan went 21-5, winning WPIAL and PIAA Class 6A titles.
